David R. Harris


David R. Harris, 60, of Hampden Township, passed away at Harrisburg Hospital on August 26, 2008.
 
David is survived by his wife Donna; brother, Kenneth of Etters, PA; and sister, Gail LaTrechiano of Lansdale, PA. He had three sons, David R. Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Colin Harris of Red Lion, and Robert Knowles of Mechanicsburg. Hs is also survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Gleason of Zionsville, PA and Kristina Boyd of Morgantown, PA; four granddaughters, Megan Aiken, Alexis Knowles, Erin Harris, and Sydney Boyd; two grandsons, Jackson Robert Harris and Brandon Robert Boyd; and one great granddaughter, Leah Aiken. David was the son of Raymond Harris and Grace Mann-Harris of Lansdale.

David was an independent land development consultant and the Zoning Officer for Monaghan Township in York County. He was serving as the Vice President of York County Association of Zoning Officers and Building Code Officials. His previous career was as a regulatory development analyst and specialist. He was the Hampden Township Tax Assessor.

A member of the Cumberland County Republican Committee, he had served as the Committee's Political Director and was named the Outstanding Cumberland County Republican for 1999 by the Committee. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee and had served as the chairman of the Hampden Township Republican Committee for many years.

David served as a member of the Cumberland Valley School District's Tax Study Commission in 2006-2007. He had served on the Hampden Township Planning Commission, was currently a member of the Hampden Township Zoning Hearing Board and was formerly the President of the Noll Acres Homeowners Association. He was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Multiple Sclerosis Society, a member of the MS Society's Leadership Class of 2006, and was a past Vice President of the PA Jaycees.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 6 p.m., at Christ Presbyterian Church, 421 Deerfield Road, Camp Hill, PA.
