Al Bienstock – Hampden 4 Committeeman
 
Al Bienstock is an insurance broker who also holds ownership interests in several homeland security related businesses.  He has been a Hampden Township commissioner since 2001 and previously served for many years on Hampden's Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board.  His involvement in the community encompasses a wide range of activities including: Governor-Elect Tom Ridge's Transition Team; Governor Ridge's IMPACCT Commission Task Force on Banking and Insurance; Tri-County and State Mental Health Associations; Governor's Advisory Committee on Mental Health and Mental Retardation; Pennsylvanians for Right to Work; AHEDD (provides training and job placement for individuals with developmental disabilities); soccer coach and co-founder of the Hampden Memorial Day Girls Soccer Tournament; board member of Bethany Development Corp. (Bethany Towers); treasurer of Taxpayers of America.  He has chaired training seminars at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference.  Al writes commentary on current events through RightWingLimericks.com and is an avid, amateur, magician.
 
After enlisting and serving as an Army Security Agency cryptographer in the Far East, Al started his business career while going to college at night.  He and Elyse, married in 1968, have lived in Hampden Township since 1975 and their two daughters were raised here.  He is a lifelong Republican who is proud to have cast his first presidential vote for Barry Goldwater.  Al has served as a member of the Cumberland County Republican Committee for many years and was elected to the Republican State Committee in 2007.
 


Marjorie Blaze – Hampden 4 Committeewoman
 
Marjorie Blaze, a recent retiree, completed 30 years of service with the state as a manager in the PA Department of Education, and is thus new to elected office. Marjorie has earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in education from Shippensburg University.  Marjorie is the mother of two adult children, Rob and Christy, and grandmother to five.  Marjorie attends Trinity Luthern Church in Camp Hill and is also a 2008-2009 participant in the Anne B. Anstine Excellence in Public Service Series, a leadership program for Republican women.  She has been a Committeewoman since 2008.



Jane Finkelstein - Hampden 2 Committeewoman

Jane is retired from PNC Bank.  She graduated from Danville High School and received her BA in Education from Susquehanna University.  When her second daughter was born, she stopped teaching and became a "stay at home mom."  After daughter number four became an adult, she went to work for CCNB.  She now has eight grandchildren.  Jane is a member of Cumberland County Republican Committee's Governor's Club, is active in Hampden Township's Women's Club and has been a committeewoman for many years.





Charlie Gerow - Hampden 2 Committeeman

Recently named “One of the Top 50 Most Influential Republicans in Pennsylvania” by Politics Magazine, Charlie Gerow is the CEO of Quantum Communications, a Harrisburg, PA based public relations and marketing firm. 

Called “Harrisburg’s most politically well-connected conservative” by Harrisburg Magazine, Charlie is a longtime Republican activist and conservative leader. Charlie serves on the Board of Directors of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious conservative organization and on the Board of Directors and the National Council of Trustees of the Freedom’s Foundation at Valley Forge. Charlie co-founded the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, an annual gathering of the states conservative activists.

A graduate of the Villanova University School of Law, Charlie began his career on the campaign staff of President Ronald Reagan and has served as an Attorney, College professor and has been a Republican candidate for the United States Congress.

Charlie is the (Republican) political analyst for WHP-TV21, the Harrisburg CBS affiliate and regularly appears in both statewide and national media.  He has been quoted in virtually every major newspaper in the country.

Elected as both a Delegate and an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention, Charlie has also been appointed as an Alternate Delegate-at-Large. 

In 2003 he was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Commission.

Charlie also serves as Chairman of the Alumni Council of the American Swiss Foundation and is a Founders Club member of the Reagan Alumni Association.

Charlie has lived in Hampden Township for more than 20 years.





Elaine Grell - Hampden 5 Committeewoman

Elaine graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1974, graduated Shippensburg University in 1978 with a BS in Elementary Education, and received her Master's in Elementary Education from Millersville University in 1982.  She taught Third and Fourth Grade from 1978-1982 at Southern York Country School District and then taught Third Grade at the Harrisburg Academy from 1982-1993.  She previously served as a Republican Committeewoman in Hampden 11th precinct and currently serves as a Committeewoman in Hampden 5th precinct.  She married Glen R. Grell in 1982 and has two children, Cory (21) and Alyssa (16).


Don Houser – Hampden 5 Committeeman
 
Don Houser is a native of Lock Haven, Clinton County, where he was first elected committeeman while a student at Lock Haven University. After graduation, he began a career in the Pennsylvania State Senate, serving as a Field Representative to former state Senator J. Doyle Corman, Jr. In 1998, he was appointed Chief of Staff to state Senator Jake Corman and served in this position until October 2008.
 
Don is a former Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, at-large committeeman and elected Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, Commissioner - a position he held from May 2007 to May 2009, when he resigned the office to move to Hampden Township.
 
Don is married to Mindy and they have two sons, Jackson and Sloan, and reside in Good Hope Farms South He is a member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick and is currently State Government Affairs Manager for Dominion Resources, Inc. He can be reached by email at senatedon@gmail.com.

 


Ken Hugendubler-Hampden 10 Committeeman

Ken Hugendubler is a CPA and partner with Beard Miller Company LLP (bmc).  Ken is in charge of the firm’s insurance audit and accounting practice.  Ken had previously spent 14 years with Ernst & Young LLP.  Ken is very active in the community.  He is most proud of his accomplishments as president of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, Inc. as helped take an organization that was on the verge of bankruptcy and had a tattered public image to one that is now financially stable and viewed extremely positively by the community.  Ken also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Capital Region, is the chairman of the Harrisburg Council of Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania and is a member of the Mechanicsburg North Rotary Club where he serves as youth exchange counselor.  He is a former member and past president of the West Shore Rotary Club and Cosmopolitan Club of the Capital Region.  He was also on the Board of Directors of the Mechanicsburg Art Center, School and Galleries and the Allied Arts Fund.

Ken has been active in the Dauphin and Cumberland County Young Republicans and founded the College Republican Club at his alma mater, Susquehanna University.  

Ken has lived in Hampden Township since 2001 with his wife Lisa, daughter, Amanda , two dogs, Jackie and Jamie and two cats, Precious and Bandit.  They are members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 

 


Ashley B. Jordan-Hampden 12 Committeewoman

Miss. Ashley B. Jordan, is the recent graduate of The Pennsylvania State University.  Ashley graduated May 2010 with a major in Health Policy and Administration and a minor in Labor Studies and Employment Relations.  Ashley was an advocate intern at The American College of Cardiology in Washington, DC.    She lives in Mechanicsburg, PA with her family.  

 


John S. Jordan - Hampden 12 Committeeman

Mr. John S. Jordan, CAE, is the Executive Vice President/CEO of the PA Academy of Family Physicians.  John began his career with the PA Chapter on November 1, 1998.  John came to the PA Chapter from the PA Medical Society, where he was Director of Association Management Services and Director of Membership and Physician Services.  Prior to that John was a Senior Management Engineer with York Hospital, in York PA and a Senior Management Consultant with the Sisters of Charity Health Care System in Houston, TX. 

Married with two children, Mr. Jordan received his MA in Management Information Systems from the George Washington University, Washington, DC, his MPA in Health Care Administration and a BS in Medical Technology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA.  Mr. Jordan currently serves on two non-profit boards, the Cumberland Valley School District where he served as Past President and currently Board Chair of the Cumberland & Perry Vocational Technical School.  He also served for six years as a Board Trustee at the Harrisburg Area Community College.  Mr. Jordan is a Fellow of the Philadelphia College of Physicians, the oldest medical college in the US founded in 1787.   

He lives in Mechanicsburg, PA with his wife Bonnie and two children Ashley (Senior, Penn State University) and Bryan (Junior, Cumberland Valley High School).

 


Robert H. Long, Jr. - Hampden 3 Committeeman

Bob Long is a partner at Thomas, Long, Niesen & Kennard.  He concentrates his law practice in the areas of public finance, corporate and securities, and government law.  He is the Senior Municipal Bond Attorney and head of the firm's Public and Municipal Finance Practice Group and has practiced in the area for over 39 years.  He also represents local government units as investors in cases involving bankruptcy or insolvency of investment providers.  He has served as bond counsel for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and numerous municipal authorities, school districts, and local agencies. 

Bob is a member of the American (including Tax Section), Pennsylvania, Florida, and Dauphin County Bar Associations, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Association of Bond Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities, and the American Judicature Society.  He is listed in Who's Who in America and is A-V rated by Martindale-Hubble.  Bob is a graduate of Shippensburg University and the Dickinson School of Law.  Bob is a board member of the Shippensburg University Foundation and chair of its Finance Committee.  He is also a board member of the Susquehanna Valley Center for Public Policy.

 


Don McCallin – Hampden 7 Committeeman
 
Originally from West Chester, PA, Don McCallin enlisted in the US Air Force at age 18 where he served for 8 years as an enlisted man and 15 years as a commissioned officer. During his service time, Don earned a BA in Political Science from the University of MD, and MA in Russian Studies from George Washington University, and an MBA from Marymount University.  His duties were in the area of intelligence operations with foreign postings to Turkey, Italy, West Berlin and Moscow.
Don relocated to his current address upon retirement from the Air Force in 1984 and worked as a financial consultant for two major brokerage firms and as the Director of Administrative Services for the PA Department of Revenue.  Don is now the Acting Director of Security for the PA Lottery.
During the past 24 years, Don was active on many local, state and national campaigns and served as the county coordinator for former Senator Rick Santorum's first two campaigns for the US Senate.
 
Don served a short tour as the Cumberland County Republican Committee Treasurer and has been a local committeeman for 22 years.  Don is also a member and trustee of the Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Company and a Hampden Township Commissioner whose duties lie primarily in, recreation, fire and emergency planning and services.
 
 



Lynette Morrell - Hampden 1 Committeewoman

Lynette has lived in Hampden Township since 1985.  She received certification in Human Resources from Central Penn College and works for one of the areas largest Health Care organizations.  She is a member of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, where she has served on a variety of councils and committees.   Lynette has served as a Republican Committeewoman since 2000.  While a committeewoman she has also held the office of treasurer for the Hampden Township Republican Association for the past several years.  She has two adult children and two awesome grandchildren. Where some of her free time is spent is at baseball, football and wrestling games.  When Lynette is not active with local politics she is an independent consultant for Avon and Pampered Chef.  




Jim Rendler - Hampden 1 Committeeman

Jim Rendler has been a resident of Hampden Township for 46 years. For 26 years, he served as a member of the Hampden Township Republican Committee. He was formerly a Hampden Township Commissioner. Mr. Rendler also served as President of the local and state Council of Governments.




Edwin V. Secott - Committeeman, Hampden 11
 
Ed graduated from Coudersport High School (Potter Co., Pa.) in 1945 and   enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he entered Bryant and Stratton Business Institute, Buffalo, N.Y. and graduated in 1949.  In April, 1950 he enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police.  Ed served in numerous criminal, traffic and special assignments and locations and in August 1987 retired as a Lieutenant.  He spent the next 13 years as a salesman for Sears, retiring again in 2001.
Ed has voted as a Republican every year since 1949. He assisted his wife for 20 years while she was a Committeewoman in East Pennsboro Twp. He later served there as a Committeeman for 5 years. Ed has been married to Marjorie Allison Secott for nearly 57 years. They are the parents of 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Four years ago, they moved the Hampden Twp.  Ed was elected to Committeeman in 2008.

 


Nathan Silcox – Hampden 10 Committeeman
 
Hampden 10 Committeeman   Nathan Silcox was born and raised in Silver Spring Township; graduated from Cumberland Valley High School, Lock Haven University, and Penn State – Harrisburg (MPA).  He interned with the State Senate, U.S. Senate, and Republican State Committee.  He has worked for Governor Ridge in the Department of Education, State Senator Bob Robbins (R-Mercer County), and State Senator Bob Regola (R-Westmoreland) -- as Executive Director of the Senate Local Government Committee.  He currently works on the staff of State Senator Jane Orie (R-Allegheny), Senate Majority Whip.  

Nathan is married (Kathryn) and has two children.  He is a member of the Second City Church (PCA) in Harrisburg.  He has been involved with the Young Republicans – both in Cumberland County and at the state level -- since 1999.  Prior to being elected a Hampden Committeeman in 2006, he was appointed to serve as a Committeeman in Lower Allen Township.  He has severed on the Hampden Township Planning Commission and currently serves as a Hampden Township Commissioner. 
 


Tammy Stine – Hampden 11 Committeewoman
 
Tammy Stine has served as a committeewoman in Hampden Township for the past 10 years.  Since 1991, she has run her own business, Dublin Associates, a government relations consulting firm.  She has two children, Paul, who is a freshman at Cumberland Valley High School and Meredith, who is a sixth grader at Good Hope Middle School.  Tammy is a member of St. James Presbyterian Church and currently serves on her church's Session.  She is also active in he son's Boy Scout Troop 276 and serves as the Committee Chairman and Badge Counselor for the Citizenship badges.  Tammy and her family enjoy living in Hampden Township, they like kayaking on the creek, enjoy the area parks, and the general great quality of life that Hampden Township provides.  By being active in local politics through the Hampden Township Republican Committee, she hopes that by helping to recruit and elect quality elected officials, that she can contribute to the efforts to improve and preserve our wonderful community.
 



Pete Tartline – Hampden 8 Committeeman  

Pete Tartline is currently an independent consultant whose practice consists of process and performance improvement facilitation with clients in a variety of industry sectors.  Pete’s family has lived in Hampden Township since 1996.  Pete currently serves on the board of the Cumberland Valley Midget Football Association and has been a coach in the organization for a number of years.  He is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 296 and has served on the Vestry, various committees and as a Sunday School teacher at his church, St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Harrisburg.  He was first elected as a Hampden Committeeman in 2006 after having been appointed to fill a vacancy in the position.  

Pete has grown up in Cumberland County, Lower Allen Township, and graduated from Red Land High School. He has a BA from Gettysburg College and a M.Ed. from George Mason University.  Pete served former 19th District Congressman Bill Goodling for eight years from Legislative Assistant, Legislative Director to Chief of Staff until 1995.  In 1995 he began serving Governor Tom Ridge, first as Deputy Director of the Governor’s Policy Office and then as Deputy Secretary for Administration at PennDOT.  Prior to beginning his consulting practice, he served as President and CEO of the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania.  

Pete is married to Becky Tartline and they have two children, son John and daughter Anna.




John Thomas - Hampden 9 Committeeman

John graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School (1963) and from Villanova University (1967), with a BS in Economics (Finance Major).  He is a stockbroker with Smith Barney.  He is a member of the Hampden Township Board of Commissioners, Hampden Township Sewer Authority, Cumberland County Recycling and Waste Authority, and a Special Minister at the Good Shepherd School.  He has previously served as President of the following organizations:  the Good Shepherd Capital Campaign, PA State Association of Township Commissioners, PA State Association of Councils of Government, Central Association of Township Commissioners, West Shore Wage Tax, West Shore Council of Governments, South Central League of Municipalities, Hampden Township Board of Commissioners, and Hampden Township Sewer Authority.  He has served as Past VP of the PA Local Government Investment Trust.  He is also a past member of Governor Thornburgh's Task Force for Housing and the United Way Allocations Committee.  John has been selected as Harrisburg Magazine's "Readers Choice" Stockbroker in 2004 and 2006 and "Simply the Best" Stockbroker in 2005.
 
John is married to Judy Thomas.  They have one daughter, Kathleen (married to Edward Savage), and three grandsons.
